mary + tripp ((engaged))

mary and tripp are all kinds of sweet and we loved spending the afternoon with them. she’s a classic beauty – that skin, that hair. ridiculous. she lights up when he pulls her close and our cameras couldn’t get enough of a love like this.

These pictures are amazing, some of your best work. LOVE them.

our first halloween

we had ghost shaped french toast that was white with powdered sugar and had chocolate chip eyes. yes, i realize this is like having dessert for breakfast but the hunts are in the business of celebrating these days and it was our first halloween. before every bite chris sang, who ya gonna call? and the girls yelled in response, ghostbusters, as they gobbled up every last sugary morsel.

as i watched them an unexpected wave of sadness washed over me. i was struck by the fact that my daughters are 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 and this is the first halloween that i’ve gotten to spend with them. i’ve already missed out on so much – 5 years of costumes and trick or treating and pumpkin flavored pancakes. my joy suddenly got swallowed up in all that i’ve missed out on and i couldn’t see the gifts at my kitchen table. and then, a familiar voice..big sister’s. mama?  yes. i love this family. what perfect timing for the most tender of mercies. exhale. i know that this is how god intended it to be for us. he did not choose me for those halloweens, he chose me for this one. and this holiday, i get to be the keeper of my daughters’ memories and the witness to their stories. i smiled and sprinkled a little more powdered sugar on their ghosts for good measure.

hold on tight girls. we’re going to do this thing called holidays and family time and celebrating right. and we’re going to do it together.

Your words and stories and photos move me. “i get to be the keeper of my daughters’ memories and the witness to their stories.” This sentence changes the way I think of almost everything. It’s going to make me a better momma to my little man. Thank you.

Attention please: you people are in danger of tipping the entire universe into adorableness overload. The authorities are not sure what can be done to contain it, since it seems to simply overflow out of these little cuteness incubators, but there may be only so much that mere mortals can handle.

I only know you through a client, but I hit your website every now and then for inspiration (I’m a budding photographer). I saw this post and went back through your archives to see more and I have tears just flowing. I am so happy for you; I hope and pray for your family, your girls and your full life together.
All the best, many happy holidays (big and small).
Laura

Jen, during your journey to motherhood you inspired me to be a better mom and to be grateful for ALL the moments. The hard and tired moments as much as the wonderful ones. Now you are continuing to give me that gift as a mother. I could hear the laughter and feel the love in these pictures. Love the Hunt party of four!

tonya + eric + spencer + ava

it’s like they all ingested glow sticks before our photo shoot.

they are that shiny and it comes from knowing way down deep to whom they belong.

they are the lucky ones.

*thanks for the requests for more pictures of our girls. an update on how our family coming later this week.:)

kristen - November 1, 2011 - 8:36 pm

what a sweet family!!!

Tonya - October 31, 2011 - 8:02 pm

Beautiful, you truly captured our family!!

jen + mike ((married))

in her words: ‘our love story began on the sixth floor of unc hospital, when mike was just beginning his third year of medical school and i was starting my final year of internal medicine residency. as i was jotting down last minute lab data and gathering my team for daily rounds, i noticed a rather tall, handsome and very nervous appearing medical student hiding behind the rolling computers in the corner of the nursing station. thinking that if he was too shy to stand in the middle of the nurses station, he would not cause me or my interns any trouble during the rotation. “you’re on my team,” i shouted.’

they are smart. they are beautiful. they are in love. they are husband + wife. and they are on the same team.. forever.
