she’s the baby of our family. the youngest of 9 cousins on my mom’s side. she was always beautiful. as a little girl she was tiny and had these amazing eyes and beautiful skin and our pale faces were jealous. so, we used to tell her that connie chung was her real mother and that she had to regrettably put laura up for adoption so maury povich wouldn’t find out. we thought we were so funny, laura did not. for the longest time, laura believed that if she told a lie the word ‘fib’ would show up on her forehead. one year when she opened up a fake mermaid barbie at christmas, she quickly slammed her hand to her brow, smiled and told us all that she loved it. she was the member of our family that just made our world right. she was beloved by everyone..still is, especially shane. i was so thrilled on her wedding day to meet her husband and see how he loves her so. you can tell by her smile and the way she says his name like it’s her favorite dessert. you can tell by the way he reaches for her hand and watches her shimmy her pretty self across the dance floor without ever needing a break. it was clear to us all that this day was made for her to stand in front of the family she loves and the friends that support her and say, yes, this is the boy that makes my world right.
